My mother raised five children, working as a bartender. With only an 8th grade education, she knew she loved people and it was something that would let her be independent and raise her children, on her own. Whenever the man would come to change the 45 rpm records (we referred to them as '45s) on the "bubble" jukebox, the guy would let her have the old ones. You can only imagine how much fun that was for a prepubescent kid, especially one that loved music as much as I did (still do). I also recall times when I was allowed to go to the bar so I always looked forward to customers giving me quarters to punch some favorite songs. A quarter would give a person "5 plays"; what a deal!!! I still have a fair collection of them myself. I loved the 50s!!

I've spent many hours during the past week scanning and uploading photos of Brenda Lee! What a treasure trove; I'm so enjoying this. I just wish I had more time to dedicate to it.
In some way or other, this website is trivia of 'bygone times'. Eventually it will also include my own things with a nostalgia theme! I hope you all enjoy taking a walk down Memory Lane, from my perspective. I have uploaded photos of seven scrapbooks, and the inside pages. Enjoy ...
I've created this website as a way to archive and share nostalgia memorabilia that has been passed on to me. I am, of sorts, now proud proprietor.
Dale Dohse, a special friend for more than 30 years, was quite a collector of things music, movies, t.v., etc. His largest collection is all things 'Brenda Lee'! Dale, this website is dedicated to you and your love of earlier times. It's my way to share your collections and memorabilia of times gone by with the world. |
